Lansing High School Student Article Submission: "Lansing High School's NEHS Reads to Kindergartners," by Sarah Hedberg
On Friday, March 31st, a handful of students involved in the National English Honors Society (NEHS) traveled to Lansing Elementary School to read various stories to the kindergarten classes. High schoolers read stories provided by teachers, and students participated in activities after listening.
In Mrs. Kannady’s class, students read two stories—one about a magnificent, colorful flower. Students had the opportunity to color their own flower after the story. The other was a story of a brave hermit crab seeking shelter and meeting new friends. The activity following this story involved students coloring, cutting, and gluing their own hermit crabs.
Embraced with welcoming hugs and a joyful goodbye, many high school students felt appreciated and fulfilled and hoped that the young students did as well.
