Lansing USD 469 Driver's Education Update
Driver Education will be offered during the summer of 2022. We will have mandatory parent/student meetings on Tuesday April 19 and Thursday April 21. Meetings will start at 6pm in the Pride Rock room at the high school. Parents and students MUST attend one of the two meetings.
Mandatory Handbook test dates for all students: June 6 - 8
Students will be required to pass a test over the Kansas Driver’s Handbook with at least 80% or better. They will have 3 attempts at the test, if they don’t pass, they will be dropped from class and refunded $225.00. Failing the course, however, will not result in a refund.
The Kansas Driver’s Handbook may be found here:
You will enroll in one of two sessions offered:
June Session: June 6 – June 30
July Session: July 5 – July 29 (there will be a 1-week break during this session sometime between July 5 – 15…exact dates will be announced when they are finalized)
A student may not miss more than 2 class periods; 3 absences and you are out. Please keep this in mind for Lionettes & Cheer camps, sports conditioning, vacations, etc.
Enrollment, with payment of the fee, is on a first come/first serve basis. We will begin accepting enrollment forms on Monday March 28, 2022. High school students have priority, therefore will begin enrolling on the 28th. 8th grade students may begin enrolling on Monday April 4, 2022, if spots are available.
To be eligible for enrollment each student must:
- Successfully pass an eye exam administered by the school nurse or doctor
- Pay course fee of $300.00
- Must be @ least 14 years of age as of May 27, 2022
Instructors will assign each student to a driving group after enrollment. Drive times may NOT always be the same time of day for each session.
We plan to have a Canvas online classroom for students and driving schedules will be posted there when they are completed.
