Lansing High School 2021 Driver Education Information
Driver Education will be offered during the summer of 2021. We will have mandatory parent/student meetings on Monday, April 12th and Wednesday, April 21st. Meetings will start at 6pm in the Pride Rock room at Lansing High School. Parents and students MUST attend one of the two meetings. Classes will begin after school on June 1st and will end by mid-July.
A student may not miss more than 2 class periods; 3 strikes and you are out! (Please keep this in mind for Lionettes & Cheer camps, vacations, etc. Students will be required to pass a test over the Kansas Driver's Handbook with at least 80% or better. They will have 3 attempts at the test, if they don't pass, they will be dropped from class and refunded $225.00. Failing the course, however, will not result in a refund!!
Enrollment is on a first come/first serve basis (with fee), and we will begin accepting enrollment forms on Monday March 22, 2021. High school students have priority, therefore will begin enrolling on the 22nd. 8th grade students may begin enrolling on Monday March 29, 2021 if spots are available. To be eligible for enrollment each student must:
- Successfully pass an eye exam administered by the school nurse or doctor
- Pay course fee of $300.00
- Must be atleast 14 years of age as of May 27, 2021

Please indicate your first option then second option at the bottom of the application. The Group #'s listed on each schedule indicate driving times based on a class size of 24 with 2 drivers in each group. After the start of classes, the instructors will assign each student to a driving group.

Driver Education Enrollment Requirements

Students must be @ least 14 years of age

Lansing High School students will have priority in registering for class

Students cannot miss more than two classroom sessions

Cost is $300.00 for all students.
Course Work
|

Students must obtain 80% or higher on all classwork

Students who do not receive 80% or higher must redo and submit the assignment or test until 80% or higher is obtained
Driving Schedule
|

Students will have 6 scheduled driving times with a partner. Instructor will not go out alone with only one student

Students will drive one hour and observe one hour per driving session
Course Completion

Students must obtain 80% or higher in all classroom activities

Students must successfully complete the required driving assessment

Students will receive a pass/fail grade for the driver education course
