Early Childhood Students Have Another In-House Field Trip Thanks to $1,000 Lansing Educational Foundation Grant!
Lansing Early Childhood students got another visit from Mad Science of Greater Kansas City thanks to a grant by Lansing Educational Foundation. "Jet Pack Jason" and "Luminous Lainey" visited the students on Tuesday, April 13th and did a "Walk on the Moon" presentation. Our early childhood students learned the principles of space travel during their interactive presentation.
This visit was made possible through a $1,000 grant titled "Early Childhood Gets STEAMed" written by Early Childhood Special Education teachers Keri Litewski and Cindy Willis.
STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, art and math. Young children can build a strong foundation for future learning by exploring STEAM preschool skills and concepts through play and discussion, then applying those skills through more play.
Other activities included in the grant are as follows:
Early Childhood Construction Day - Students were able to explore and create in stations in tandem with their theme unit: "Imagine It, Make It... Things We Build."
Mad Science of Greater Kansas City - Bugs, Habitats and Hives, Oh My! - Our students will learn what makes a bug an insect, where do they live and how do insects protect themselves from all those creatures out there that want them for lunch.
Sunflower Music Early Childhood Music Group - Sunflower Music Therapy - Our students will have the opportunity to experience a fun and engaging music group that targets academic, social-emotional, communication, and fine and gross motor skills.
