Alumni Spotlight: Congratulations to Sarah Barlow Who Was Chosen To Perform in KU's Vespers Concert
Lansing USD469 is incredibly proud of alumni Sarah Barlow who was recently selected to perform in The University of Kansas's 98th Annual Vesper's Concert. The concert on Sunday, December 4, 2022, featured performances and seasonal sounds from vocal and instrumental ensembles. Miss Barlow was selected to perform in the treble choir.
Sarah attended Lansing since kindergarten and graduated in 2021. She was very active in many sports and activities during her time in Lansing USD 469 but had a focus on singing. She sang with Loyal Lansingers in grade school, Sound FX in middle school, Concert Choir all four years in high school, and her senior year with the women's ensemble.
After graduating from Lansing, Sarah began her college career at the University of Kansas, where she is studying Biology and Psychology to become a Psychotherapist.
Sarah's mom, Missy Barlow, said she auditioned for a spot at KU in what she thought would be a choral group just for fun that met in the evenings with minimal commitment.
"The next morning, she received an email from the KU School of Music informing her that she was being inducted into the second-highest collegiate choir at KU, The Treble choir, an all-female group of choir students led by world-renowned professor Dr.Eduardo Garcia-Novelli. We were so shocked that she was invited into such a prestigious program."
Miss Barlow was able to change her schedule and rearrange her classes to make it work.
Fantastic job, Sarah! Thank you for representing Lansing USD469 well, and we can't wait to see what the future holds for you!
