Lansing High School Students Visit Lansing Intermediate School to Lead Problem-Solving Activities
Advanced Studies students from Lansing High School had fun working with fourth and fifth graders on Friday, November 18th. Seniors Cierra Dominick, Michael Im, and Rachel Rothmeyer visited Lansing Intermediate School to lead creative, problem-solving activities consisting of two verbal challenges using creativity: a hands-on building challenge using creative problem-solving skills and a problem-solving activity called the Human Knot.
The seniors and younger students all had positive things to say about their experience together:
"I thoroughly enjoyed having the opportunity to be a mentor for the 4th/5th grade gifted students. The kids were very respectful, good listeners, and I really appreciated the authentic and creative responses."
- Senior Rachel Rothmeyer
"I liked when we did the human knot because my team got record time. Also, the high schoolers were really nice to us."
- LIS Student Alex
"I loved the way the high school students interacted with us rather than just letting us figure it out ourselves."
- LIS Student Brody
