Rolling into Fun: Lansing Students Enjoy Roller Skating in Physical Education Class
Lansing Physical Education teachers, Mrs. Crissy Robinson and Mr. Lee Matzeder, continue to make PE fun for our elementary and intermediate students by incorporating a roller skating unit in their curriculum.
this year to allow fourth and fifth-grade students to participate in "glow skating."
This is the tenth year roller skating has been a part of Physical Education in Lansing. There are enough roller skates and wrist guards for every student, and students are allowed to bring their own helmets. The fourth and fifth graders even have the chance to participate in "glow skating" under black lights in the gymnasium of Lansing Intermediate School. This year was even more enjoyable with a Chiefs theme to skate to!
Although third-grade students also participate in the roller skating unit, "glow skate" is only offered to fourth and fifth-grade students since they are more experienced skaters.
Each grade level will also have the opportunity to take a field trip to Skate City to practice their skills later this school year.
