Kristen was surprised with the announcement by Superintendent Dan Wessel; Lansing School Board President, John Dalbey; Lansing Educational Foundation President, Christine Aus; and Lansing Educational Foundation Director, Sharon Burns.
In addition to her regular duties as nurse coordinator, Kristen has stepped up this year due to the national pandemic, taking on the monumental tasks of helping to prepare the guidelines for our district reopening, Gating Criteria, Symptom Flow Chart, COVID 19 case reporting, and close contact procedures. She has done her job with grace and continues to be a positive presence in our district.
One of her nominators had these words to say about Ms. Dilka, "Kristen has worked long hours tirelessly for USD 469 to contact trace and determine close contacts. She has been the 'go to' person in our district for all COVID 19 questions, education, and information. Her conduct is always professional, providing consistent, reliable information to all our families. She exemplifies being an effective decision maker during crisis management."
Another nominator described a time when he had to talk her about a close contact in his classroom. "She took the time to answer individual questions, not just about the specific situation. Dilka is approachable and friendly with staff members across all aspects of the district."
Not only is Kristen a stand-out in our district - she has volunteered at multiple Leavenworth County Health Department vaccination clinics when they were understaffed.
Lansing Educational Foundation recognizes two Educational Support Professionals each year, and Lansing USD 469 Routing Coordinator, Janine Shields, received the other award.
