Mainstreet Credit Union and Lansing Educational Foundation sponsor all-district luncheon
The Lansing School District partnered with Mainstreet Credit Union and Lansing Educational Foundation to hold its first ever All-District Luncheon on Thursday, August 8 at Lansing High School. Lunch was catered by Famous Dave's BBQ. School front offices were closed for a short period that afternoon, so that all staff could attend. The turn out was incredible, with more than 420 staff members in attendance.
"The Back to School Luncheon was a great opportunity for ALL of our staff members to get together to kick off the year," said Mr. Dan Wessel, Interim Superintendent. "This was our first time in quite some time to bring everyone together. This unity will help us to remember that we are all educators."

Lansing Educational Foundation (LEF) also sponsored the luncheon, covering the costs of all classified staff. LEF board members helped run the event, keeping the food lines moving and food trays / drinks filled. The foundation has held an annual BBQ Bash in years past for just the classified staff to thank them for all they do for the district. They were excited to partner with Mainstreet Credit Union and the school district this year to provide an opportunity for all staff to come together. Classified staff consists of secretaries, custodians, maintenance department, central office staff, nurses, para professionals, ISS Aides, library aides, food service (cooks), counselors, social workers, ELL facilitators, crossing guards, special education paras, substitutes, transportation, coordinators, and special education support staff for Lansing.
The district hopes to continue this new tradition of having a combined event where all staff, certified and classified, have the opportunity to connect again before the new school year begins.
