Congratulations to Lansing High School Choirs for their Performance at State!
The Lansing High School Choirs recently competed at State Large Group contest and had outstanding results!
From Choir teacher, Mr. Brian White:
"We had three choirs compete, the max permitted by KSHSAA. Each group, Concert Choir, Women's Ensemble, and the Legacy Singers, performed a set of standard choral literature for three judges on a rubric of 80 points, resulting in earning a rating of I - V. (I = outstanding, III = average, V = ineffective).
We are thrilled to announce that all 3 choirs not only earned a "I" overall rating, but each group earned straight "I"s, a "I" rating from every judge! The accolades did not stop there as the Women's Ensemble and Concert Choir both earned a perfect rubric of 80 points from one of their judges!
The students have done marvelous this year in setting a new standard in the midst of the Covid-19 protocols. I hold State Large Group in high regard as I view it as an evaluation of our classroom. We are flattered that all 9 music professionals thought that our work was exemplary as they evaluated us.
One of our judges seemed to sum everything up well:
'Attention to detail in choral techniques, musicality, diction, interpretation, and MORE was incredible!! I put my pencil down and just LISTENED to you! Great selections, sensitive singing and wonderful accompanist. I hope you know what a special time this is for you and your director that you were able to accomplish such a high level of performance IN SPITE of circumstances. Excellent teaching to talented singers willing to make music. AND you looked wonderful on stage! BRAVO!!!!'
Thank you for your support and it's a pleasure to work with and lead our students."
Wonderful job, Mr. White and our Lansing High School Choirs!
