Lansing High School Kansas Association of Youth (KAYs) Holds Successful Blood Drive on April 15, 2021
Lansing High School's Kansas Association of Youth (KAYs) students brought in the Community Blood Center to hold their second annual blood drive on Thursday April 15th in the gymnasium at Lansing High School. The event was organized by the KAYs board with students Asa Solomon, Lexi Perry, and Nik Schintgen taking the lead. The volunteer students helped set up at 6:00am and helped clean up / break down when it was complete. Ms. Michaela Kinyon reported that this year's blood drive was a tremendous success, with thirty-four students and staff members registered.
Senior Kamryn Bordeau is part of the Community Blood Center's Gallon Grad Program, which is a program where students must meet two of the following requirements over their high school career:
- Donate blood at least three times
- Volunteer for a minimum of five years
- Recruit a minimum of five new donors
- Host of blood drive
Senior MacKenzie Krause is close to meeting her requirements as well. Students who complete the program will receive a distinctive cord or pin to wear at graduation and a certificate recognizing their achievement as a Gallon Grad.
Wonderful work, KAYs and all those that donated blood!
