Lansing USD 469 Partners with Lansing Police Department & Kansas Highway Patrol To Bring Narcotics K-9s to LHS
On Thursday, April 8th, the Kansas Highway Patrol Narcotics K-9s visited Lansing High School as a preventative strategy to help keep drugs out of the school. The Narcotics K-9s visited the school at the request of LHS administration and randomly swept fifteen classrooms.
Officer Leif French, our Lansing USD 469 School Resource Officer, who helped facilitate the visit on Thursday, was pleased with how the sweep went.
"It's commendable of LHS administration to request the K-9 to try and be proactive," said Officer French. "It is important for parents to know about the various safety, security, and educational things we are doing as a district to keep our students and staff safe. It shows that our district cares."
Below is the message sent via Skyward from Principal Rob McKim Thursday afternoon:
This morning we partnered with the Lansing Police Department and Kansas Highway Patrol to bring Narcotics K-9s to the high school. We randomly selected 15 classrooms for the dogs to work. Students were asked to leave their belongings in the classroom and then were moved to the hallway before the dog was taken into the room to work.
We appreciate your support as we continue to work to provide a safe, drug free, educational environment for all students.
