Weekly Update of Lansing High School Students Enrolled in KCKCC Pioneer Classes - Construction, Culinary, Electrical, HVAC
Lansing High School students and graduates enrolled in Kansas City Kansas Community Center Pioneer Career Center (KCKCC PCC) had another productive week of learning.
Culinary - Knife Cuts
Francisco Verzola worked on different knife cuts when working with potatoes. The students practiced the following knife cuts: Julienne, Fine Julienne, Rondelle, Tourne, Batonnet, Paysanne, Large Dice, Medium Dice, Small Dice, Brunoise, and Fine Brunoise.
HVAC - Vacuum Training
HVAC students Cameron Spear, Ezra Wilson, and Andrew Shields learned how to run nitrogen through the system of their Franken Fridge to vacuum out the fridge.
Construction - Cutting Boards
Charles VanDerWerff made end grain cutting boards. These boards are made up of a lots of small boards with their faces and edges joined together. The end grain of the boards are used as the cutting surface which allows for better knife skills and board durability. End grain cutting boards are very durable and will last a lifetime.
Electrical - Outlets
Lansing graduate, Tristan Mench installed outlets in the classroom for equipment they will be using this semester.
