Girl Scout Troop 506 visits Lansing graduate, Leah Wiegers, at US Air Force Academy
Lansing Girl Scout Troop 506 braved the Colorado's Bomb Cyclone last month to visit Lansing graduate, Leah Wiegers, at the United States Air Force Academy. Leah is doing exceptionally well at the academy, where she began her academic career last fall. "I think the teaching style and learning model of the AP classes I took at LHS got me ready for college classes, because the responsibility was more on me to gain the study skills outside of class to do well in the course," said Miss Wiegers. "To prepare me for the military and leadership training I am going through, student-led organizations I participated in including NHS, band and volunteering in my community, as well as being captain on a sports team, gave me the confidence and experience to stretch myself to become a leader."
Leah continues to be a role model to the girls at Lansing High School and beyond. She spent her 2019 spring break building a home in Fort Smith, Arkansas with about ten other cadets for Habitat for Humanity.
Great work, Leah! Thank you for being such an impeccable example of what Lansing has to offer!
