Director of Teaching & Learning Miles Azzeh's Academic Spotlight: Jenny Nickelson
Our Lansing USD 469 teachers are incredible at engaging our students in fantastic learning opportunities to reach their full potential every day in our district. To highlight and bring recognition to this great work, Director of Teaching and Learning Miles Azzeh will be regularly shining a spotlight on a stand-out teacher through "academic spotlights."
December 22, 2021 Academic Spotlight by Mr. Miles Azzeh:
“This week’s spotlight is on Jenny Nickelson, Instructional Coach at LES. Jenny had to play detective earlier this school year when a large shipment of books was randomly delivered to the school unannounced. After some digging, she found that the National Title I Association of School and Toys for Tots had partnered for a special initiative to deliver 500,000 books to Title I schools. Since LES is designated Title I, the school received a book for every single student!
Jenny worked diligently to organize the books by grade/reading level, set up a delivery schedule, and personally deliver the books to each classroom and student in the building. The cheers of joy when the kids found out they were allowed to take the books home for good would even put a smile on the Grinch’s face!
Way to go, Jenny!”
