Positive Case at Lansing High School
Dear Lansing USD 469 Families,
Our district was notified Monday evening that a student at Lansing High School has tested positive for COVID-19.
Per our established protocol, we are coordinating our efforts with the Leavenworth County Health Department regarding who has been in close contact with the student who tested positive. Any such student or staff member that has been in close contact with the student who has tested positive will be notified by Leavenworth County Health Department and will be required by them to quarantine for 14 days. Our staff is making phone calls this evening to let parents and students know they need to stay home tomorrow and await a call from the health department about quarantine. We apologize for the lateness of the call. A person is considered a close contact of a case if they were within 6 feet of the case for 10 minutes or more or if they had exposure to secretions (for example, being coughed or sneezed on).
The symptoms of COVID-19 are similar to the regular seasonal influenza and include fever, coughing, and shortness of breath. Some have reported additional symptoms, such as a runny nose, sore throat, nausea, lethargy, lack of appetite, vomiting, and diarrhea. Individuals who need medical care should call their medical provider to report their illness prior to seeking care at a clinic, physician’s office, or hospital. Parents of students exhibiting flu-like symptoms or staff exhibiting flu-like symptoms are asked to contact a school nurse, local health authorities or the Leavenworth County Health Department.
We are closely monitoring this situation and will provide you with updates as we know more. For more information about how our district will be handling COVID-19 cases in our district, visit:https://usd469.socs.net/vnews/display.v/ART/5f4d41794f3ad
