Body Venture Encourages Health and Wellness at Lansing Elementary School
Lansing Elementary School students had the privilege of experiencing Body Venture, an exciting and educational exhibit representing the human body, on January 17th and 18th. The Body Venture exhibit, provided through the Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE), is an enclosed walk-through experience consisting of eleven learning stations. Each station is designed to engage students in experiential and educational activities focused on making healthy choices.
Lansing Elementary School Principal and head of our Lansing USD469 Health & Wellness Committee, Dr. Jennifer Kolb, led the initiative to bring Body Venture to Lansing Elementary School by applying for a grant through KSDE.
Our Lansing USD469 Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) helped make the exhibit a reality by covering the cost of the event, which was $1,000.
Thank you to the dedicated volunteers who played a crucial role in the success of the event. University of Saint Mary teaching and nursing students and staff, community members, parents/guardians, past and present Board of Education (BOE) members, as well as Lansing teachers and staff, all contributed their time and efforts to run the learning stations within the exhibit. The event's success was made possible by the collaboration of volunteers who also assisted in setting up and taking down the exhibit: The Joint Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC), Kiwanis, LES Site Council & Families, teachers, and students.
"We are thrilled to have been selected to host Body Venture this year," said Dr. Kolb. "With over 70 volunteers joining forces to support our school and educate our students about health and wellness, we are truly grateful. This opportunity wouldn't have been possible without the unwavering support of our community. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this event a success and enriching the lives of our students."
The Body Venture exhibit at Lansing Elementary School provided students with a unique and interactive learning experience and encouraged a sense of community engagement and support for health and wellness education within the school district.
