Lansing USD469 will start one hour later each Thursday during the 2025-2026 school year. Here is some helpful information for our families regarding Late Start Thursdays:
Late Start: Each Thursday, all K-12 students will start school one hour later than usual.
Preschool: This schedule will not affect preschool students.
Purpose: The additional time allows our teachers to collaborate on enhancing the MTSS process, discuss student data, intervention strategies, instructional techniques, common assessments, and set goals for our students.
Transportation: Buses will run one hour later each Thursday.
Childcare: For elementary and intermediate students (grades K-5), free childcare is available through the YMCA for parents needing to drop their students off at 8:00 am. Please contact your child's school for more information on how to sign up.

Lansing’s Trunk or Treat is Back!
Get ready for a spooktacular evening of candy, costumes, and community fun! Join us on October 26th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the lower parking lot at Lansing High School for this year’s Trunk or Treat event.
Families can enjoy a festive night filled with decorated car trunks, candy, food trucks, and plenty of Halloween fun. Kids of all ages are encouraged to come in costume and trick-or-treat safely among friends and neighbors.
This event is open to the entire Lansing community, and allergy-friendly treats will be available to ensure everyone can take part in the celebration.

Monday, Sept. 29 – Rhyme Over the Rainbow: Rhyme Without a Reason, Students pair up with a friend and dress in costumes that rhyme, even if they don’t go together.

Summer 2025 Opportunities for Lansing Students

This program focuses on improving athletic performance through strength training, speed development, and overall conditioning. It is ideal for student-athletes preparing for fall sports and anyone looking to enhance their fitness levels over the summer.

On Monday, May 5th, Lansing Middle School hosted its 2nd Annual 8th Grade Math Fair! Families, staff, and community members explored a showcase of interactive student projects that connected math to real-world careers. Organized by educators Penny Wagner and Miranda Cote, 8th-grade students interviewed professionals from various industries—including construction, healthcare, culinary arts, and more—and presented their findings through essays and tri-fold displays.
Guests were also entered into a raffle to win two Sporting KC tickets, generously donated by Kurt Austin, Senior Director of Communications for Sporting KC and one of our featured volunteers.
