Lansing Middle School seventh grader Sofia Vega spent part of her summer taking her love of dance to the stage as part of a special performance with the Kansas City Dance Collective.

Sofia, who dances with First City Dance Center, spent her summer rehearsing scenes directed by professional dancers and choreographers from the Kansas City Dance Collective. Her hard work culminated in performances on August 7 and 8 as part of The Living Canvas.

During the production, Sofia performed in a variety of student scenes woven into the larger company performance, giving her the opportunity to work alongside other young dancers while learning from professionals in the Kansas City dance community.

We love celebrating the many talents and experiences of our Lansing students, both inside and outside the classroom. Congratulations to Sofia on this exciting accomplishment and for representing Lansing Middle School so well!
