Junior Duck Stamp Contest

Lansing USD 469 is proud to announce that more than 135 Lansing Middle School students recently submitted artwork to the 2025–26 Kansas Federal Junior Duck Stamp Contest, a highly respected competition modeled after the Federal Duck Stamp Program, which has supported wildlife conservation since 1934. The contest challenges students to combine art, science, and conservation awareness through detailed depictions of waterfowl.

Under the guidance of art teacher Ms. Emily Bucher, LMS students embraced the opportunity to showcase their creativity, and the results were outstanding.

Several students earned special recognition for their work:

  • Paisley Batteau: 1st Place

  • Ellie Lourentzos: 2nd Place

  • Aubrey O’Reilly: 2nd Place

  • Abigail Clanin: 3rd Place

  • Ashtan Murphy: 3rd Place

Additional honors included:

  • Aminah Abdul-Raahman: Ranger’s Choice

  • Adriana Solombrino: Honorable Mention, Ranger’s Choice

  • Eden Gress: Prairie Prize

  • Kate Jacobson: Honorable Mention, Monet Award

  • Ben Lohman: Attitude Award

  • Libby Armstrong: Marais Des Cygnes Swan

  • Kaelyn Ailin: Honorable Mention, Headshot

Students earning Honorable Mention recognition also included:

Ahli Alvarado, Faith Fernandez, Emalyn Ford, Sophia Johnson, Ariah Kowalski, Adamariz Santos, Erin Slattery, Jude Smith, Ainsley Tystad, and Deana Yates.

All submitted artwork will be featured in a special exhibition at the LMS Fine Arts Fair on May 12, where the community will have the opportunity to view the collection of student work together. Following the exhibit, each student will receive their original artwork along with a personalized certificate of participation.
