Nick Bratkovic

We’re excited to launch a new series highlighting our Lansing Middle School’s certified staff members who joined us this school year! With the first quarter nearly behind us, this is the perfect time to spotlight them. Now that they’ve had time to build connections and find their rhythm, we’re eager for you to meet them and learn about the talents and passion they bring to our school community.

Staff Spotlight: Nick Bratkovic, 8th-Grade English / Language Arts Teacher

We’re excited to introduce one of our new certified staff members at Lansing Middle School, Mr. Nick Bratkovic. Born and raised in Shawnee, Kansas, he now lives in Olathe with his wife and their 16-year-old daughter. Teaching runs in the family - his mother spent more than 50 years in the classroom, and education continues to be a meaningful part of his story.

Mr. Bratkovic attended Kansas State University, earning his undergraduate degree before completing his teaching degree through the MAT program. He also studied business administration at Baker University.

Outside of school, he enjoys cheering on the Chiefs, Royals, and Wildcats, reading widely (especially Malcolm Gladwell books and classics like Fahrenheit 451), and traveling, sometimes even by taking a different route just to see something new. For fun, he also loves TV shows like The Office, The Bear, and Seinfeld, along with movies like A Few Good Men and Rocky. One fun fact: he has an incredible memory and can recall details from decades ago, even remembering who he sat next to in 5th grade!

As he settles into LMS, Mr. Bratkovic is most excited about working with middle school students and teachers and has already found this age group to be a great fit.

We’re thrilled to welcome Mr. Bratkovic to the Lansing Middle School family and look forward to a wonderful year ahead!
