Lansing Middle School has welcomed back a very special former student, and her presence is bringing kindness, laughter, and joy. At just 22 years old, Mia Hairston is making a meaningful impact in the same classroom she once attended as a student at Lansing Middle School.
A proud former LMS student and part of the Lansing USD469 community, Mia now volunteers twice a week alongside Ms. Amanda Edwards—who was once her teacher.
“She has been awesome, and it has been a great experience for all of us,” Ms. Edwards shared. Whether lending a hand in the classroom or helping out in the front office, her spirit is unmistakable.
Bookkeeper and Secretary Shirley Painton loves having Mia help in the front office and said her favorite thing is opening the door for people. She spreads kindness by telling people they are beautiful.
Her enthusiasm is infectious, and her presence is a daily reminder of the power of inclusion and the long-lasting connections forged in Lansing USD469.
