Teammates mentoring program

After a remarkable first year at Lansing Intermediate School, the Teammates Mentoring Program has proven just how powerful one consistent, caring adult can be. Students who were matched with mentors showed increased confidence, stronger school engagement, and meaningful personal growth.

But as the program expands, so does the need.

More students are ready. We just need more mentors.

Teammates pairs students with community members who commit to meeting with them regularly during the school day. It’s simple but powerful - showing up, listening, encouraging, and being someone a student can count on.

You don’t have to be an educator.
You don’t need special training or experience.
You simply need to care and be willing to show up consistently.

One hour a week can change a student’s trajectory.

Why It Matters

Some students just need:

  • Someone who believes in them

  • Someone who listens

  • Someone who reminds them they matter

That someone could be you.

What the Commitment Looks Like

  • Meet with your mentee once a week during the school day

  • Commit to at least one year

  • Complete an online application, background check, and mentor training

We provide the structure and support. You provide the relationship.

Help Us Meet the Need

We currently have students who are ready to be matched, and we cannot do it without more community volunteers.

If you’ve ever considered mentoring, this is your moment.

Visit the Teammates Mentoring Program website to learn more and complete the online application. After your application is reviewed, our team will guide you through training and the matching process.

Your one hour a week could become the most important hour of a child’s week.
