Brenda Mace, Intermediate Kitchen Manager

Question: How long have you worked in Lansing USD469?

Answer: This will be my 5th school year with Lansing

Question: Can you tell us a bit about yourself and the role you have within the school district?

Answer: I started at Lansing 10/12/21. I am the Intermediate Kitchen Manager. My husband and I moved to KCK, from western Iowa, when our youngest graduated from high school. We chose to go on a new adventure - he is a veteran, and we have lived at Ft. Lewis WA and Ft. Benning GA during his service. Our 3 sons were fortunate to have gone on many adventures with us while living on each side of the USA.

Question: What do you enjoy most about your role and the work you do in the school district?

Answer: I enjoy the relationships that are built with immediate coworkers and other staff in the building. The children are amazing!! It is exciting to see how much they change in 2 years.

Question: When you're not working, what hobbies or activities do you enjoy?

Answer: Spending time with family!! My husband and I have become Chiefs season ticket members since moving to Kansas!! How 'bout those Chiefs!!

Question: What is something unusual about you that most people don't know?

Answer:Nothing unusual, but I graduated from high school at 17, grew up participating in 4-H (showed 4 different types of animals) and was a band geek (played 5 different instruments)!!

Question: Could you share a particularly heartwarming or memorable experience you've had while working with students or colleagues?

Answer: Last year, Mrs. Dill's class sang happy birthday to me!!

Question: What piece of advice would you like to offer to students to help them succeed and make the most of their educational journey?

Answer:  Be kind to each other!! Treat others as you wish to be treated!!
