Lansing USD 469 is proud to recognize fifth-grader Aubrey Thomas as our October Student of the Month!
Aubrey was nominated by her teacher, Mrs. Christina Mills, who shared that Aubrey’s kindness and leadership set her apart in the classroom.
Mrs. Mills wrote:
“Aubrey is a one-of-a-kind kid. She continuously shows all PRIDE characteristics in everything she does day in and day out. Aubrey is a great student, always completing her work and giving her best effort with it all. However, Aubrey’s kindness is what shines the brightest.
The kindness she shows to everyone in our 5th grade class is indescribable, but I will try. Aubrey goes out of her way to make each student feel valued and included. She offers help when classmates are struggling, encourages others with positive words, and always treats people with respect.
Aubrey consistently demonstrates empathy and compassion, whether it’s by welcoming students into her group to play, being willing to partner with any classmate during activities, or checking in on someone who seems upset. We have one student in class who Aubrey has brought under her wing to help him throughout every task he does each and every day. She is his safe space and such a great friend to him. Her actions create a warm and supportive classroom environment where everyone feels comfortable.
Aubrey is an excellent example of how kindness can make a difference. She inspires her peers to treat others well, and she helps make our classroom a place where students feel safe and welcome. I feel so blessed to have Aubrey in my class this year.”
Aubrey’s thoughtfulness, empathy, and positivity embody the true spirit of Lansing PRIDE. Congratulations, Aubrey, on being named Lansing USD 469’s October Student of the Month!
