Lansing High School Establishes Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honor Society Chapter

Lansing High School recently celebrated a milestone with the induction of the first nine members into the Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honor Society -Lansing Lions Chapter.

On April 23, Lansing High School officially became just the fourth school district in Kansas to establish a chapter of the National Social Studies Honor Society (NSSHS), recognizing students who have demonstrated exceptional academic achievement and leadership in the field of social studies.

In addition to their classroom success, members are committed to promoting the study of history and social sciences through volunteer service, leadership opportunities, and enrichment activities connected to the field of social studies.

These students all showed their willingness to uphold all the membership responsibilities, meet the academic requirements and represent themselves by the standards expected of a Rho Kappa Honor Society member and Lansing student.” said Lansing High School social studies teacher and chapter sponsor Candace Scillieri.

The inaugural members of the Lansing Lions Chapter of Rho Kappa are:

  • Emalie Araujo

  • Mario Gianunzio

  • Owen Kannaday

  • Christopher Klingman

  • Sophie McNeill
