Lansing High School’s Freshman Student Council recently brought friendly competition by hosting a Pickleball Tournament as part of their quarterly project.
Held on Saturday, May 2, at the LHS tennis courts, the event featured 10 teams and may mark the first tournament of its kind at the school. The project gave freshmen leaders the opportunity to plan, organize, and run a full-scale event from start to finish.
Freshman Jason Duncan reflected on the experience, sharing, “I enjoyed the experience, learned a lot about managing a tournament, and am looking forward to doing it again next year.”
Students involved in organizing the event included Madelyn Genge, Kayliana Kannaday, Drew Malm, Jason Duncan, and Simon Tanner.
Congratulations to tournament winners Mehki Stephens and Caden Garcia, who took home Amazon gift cards.
The event was sponsored by Freshman Stuco advisors Julie Hinckley and Mick Johnson and provided students with a hands-on leadership experience while bringing the school community together for a fun and active day.
