Lansing High School students are continuing to take advantage of advanced learning opportunities through the University of Missouri–Kansas City (UMKC) dual credit program during the 2025–26 school year.
This year, 124 LHS students are enrolled in UMKC courses, completing a total of 899 college credit hours across 21 different courses taught by 12 instructors. These opportunities allow students to earn college credit while still in high school, helping them get a head start on their postsecondary goals.
Students participating in the program are not only challenging themselves academically, but also performing at a high level, with an average GPA of 3.78 across all courses.
The program also provides a significant financial benefit to families. By earning college credits through LHS, students have collectively saved an estimated $267,902 in tuition costs.
In addition to benefiting students and families, the partnership with UMKC directly supports classrooms and teachers. The university covers the cost of textbooks for dual credit courses and provides $250 in classroom supplies per course, helping enhance the learning experience for all students.
Courses span a wide range of subject areas, including English, history, math, science, and career-focused electives. Among the most highly enrolled courses this year are:
Introduction to Academic Prose (English 110)
U.S. History (History 101)
College Algebra (Math 110)
Pre-Calculus (Math 120)
In addition to semester-based offerings, many students are enrolled in year-long courses, demonstrating a strong commitment to rigorous academic experiences.
