Unity Day at LHS

Lansing High School’s Lion Lights group kicked off Unity Day on Wednesday, October 22, with an early morning celebration designed to spread positivity and connection throughout the building. Beginning at 7:20 a.m., members of Lion Lights joined by multiple student clubs and supportive staff welcomed students at both entrances of the school.

As students arrived, they were greeted with orange bracelets, cheerful smiles, and upbeat music to start the day on a bright note. The orange theme symbolizes kindness, acceptance, and inclusion, which are the core messages of Unity Day, a nationwide event that encourages schools to stand together against bullying and promote a culture of belonging.

Lion Lights sponsor Rebecca Davis shared that the goal of the event was to kick off a great start to the day.

Unity Day is part of Lansing USD469's Anti-Bullying Spirit Week, and the celebration continues with two more themed days to close out the week:

  • Thursday – Dream of Kindness: Dress in pajamas or sweats as we dream of a world free of bullying.

  • Friday – Fab Friday: Wear shoes or a shirt that makes you feel fab to end the week with positivity and self-confidence.

These activities reflect Lansing USD469's ongoing commitment to creating an inclusive, kind, and supportive environment, one where every student feels valued and proud to be a Lion.
