This year’s National School Bus Safety Week kicks off with an important reminder for drivers everywhere: when red lights are flashing, don’t be passing! Every day, Kansas school buses safely transport thousands of students, and it’s everyone’s responsibility to help keep them safe on the road.
Drivers must stop when approaching a school bus with red lights flashing and the stop arm extended, whether you’re behind the bus or coming from the opposite direction on an undivided roadway. These few seconds of patience protect students as they cross the street.
Together, we can make sure every stop counts for student safety!
