The Lansing High School Debate Team achieved outstanding success this past weekend at a tournament in Wichita, bringing home first place as an overall squad!
Each Lansing team contributed to this impressive win through strong performances across both the Novice and Varsity divisions.
In the Novice Division,
EJ Brouillette and Christopher Chocon-Andrade earned a 3-1 record, finishing 11th overall.
Ce’bastian Neibert and Aiden Wendt went undefeated with a 4-0 record, securing 5th place.
In the Varsity Division,
Bruce Blankartz and Bayne Yoakam went 4-0 in preliminary rounds, advanced through octofinals and quarterfinals, and narrowly lost in a close semifinals debate to the eventual tournament champions. Their outstanding performance earned them 3rd place overall, and Bayne Yoakam also received the 5th Place Top Speaker Award.
