Jason Barnes, LHS Art Teacher
Question: How long have you worked in Lansing USD469?
Answer: 2 years
Question: Can you tell us a bit about yourself and the role you have within the school district?
Answer: I have 4 children and 3 of them attend Lansing Schools. I earned a Bachelors of Fine Arts from the University of Kansas, a Masters of Fine Arts from the University of Arkansas, and a Masters in the Science of Teaching from Baker University. I am the art teacher at Lansing High School.
Question: What do you enjoy most about your role and the work you do in the school district?
Answer: I enjoy helping students unlock their creative potential.
Question: When you're not working, what hobbies or activities do you enjoy?
Answer: I enjoy short walks to the fridge. I pay no rent in a state of nirvana when gazing upon a soft blanket of green hued Kentucky fescue that is freshly manicured to no more and no less than three and a half inches in length. I steward this realm in a suit of utility thats consists of a light colored polo snugly tucked into freshly ironed stone washed jorts, cotton tube socks that rise gently to mid calf and white new balance casual comfort shoes that ensure traction on any terrain.
Question: What is something unusual about you that most people don't know?
Answer: I fully believe that the Honda Odyssey is one of the most versatile vehicles of all time. With respectable power yet reliable longer range fuel efficiency, the comfort and quality of the experience is unmatched. For long journeys brimming with perilous mythical monster sized obstacles or short trips to grab the groceries, the odyssey will get and your gang home safe!
Question: Could you share a particularly heartwarming or memorable experience you've had while working with students or colleagues?
Answer: Once upon a time on the last day of school before winter break, some studious students gifted me a pet fish complete with a fish tank and all the neato accessories. Our little gilled friend splashed into the hearts of many students and was quite devoted to all. The swim together is a warm experience and one that will be cherished for sometime. However, as with all things, there is an end and our belovedly finned friend ascended (via the high school plumbing system) to the big fish tank in the sky.
Question: What piece of advice would you like to offer to students to help them succeed and make the most of their educational journey?
Answer: Whatever you do, always give 100%. Unless you're donating blood. - Bill Murray -
