Lansing High School graduate Emalee Litewski recently completed a major milestone in the Baking program at Kansas City Kansas Community College (KCKCC) by presenting her Capstone Café project.
As part of the project, Emalee created a menu, advertised her event to students, faculty, and staff, and prepared all the food herself. She worked alongside fellow culinary students, who helped operate the café during the event. Emalee greeted customers, managed orders, and practiced handling cash transactions—giving her hands-on experience in a retail food setting.
Program staff commended Emalee for her preparation, teamwork, and leadership throughout the event. Her Capstone Café served as the culmination of the skills she has developed during her time at KCKCC.
Emalee’s success highlights the opportunities available to students pursuing careers in culinary arts and reflects well on the foundation she built during her time at Lansing High School.
