Starting kindergarten is an exciting milestone, and it's normal for children (and parents!) to have a few first-day jitters.

To help incoming Lansing Elementary kindergarten students feel more comfortable and confident, our LES administrators have created "My New School - Lansing Elementary," a social story designed especially for young learners.

Using simple language and real photos from Lansing Elementary, the story walks children through what they can expect on their first days of school, including:

• Meeting their teacher

• Seeing their classroom

• Exploring the playground

• Visiting the cafeteria and library

• Riding the school bus

• Meeting school staff

• Learning about special classes like Art, Music, PE, and STEM

Reading the story together before school begins can help reduce anxiety, set clear expectations, and build confidence by making unfamiliar experiences feel more familiar.
