Parents as Teachers

Lansing USD 469's Parents as Teachers (PAT) program continues to shine both locally and beyond, earning prestigious recognition and making its mark on the international stage.

This October, PAT Coordinator Kelly Faulk and Parent Educator Jane Verran will represent Lansing at the International Parents as Teachers Conference in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Being selected to present at this global event is a significant honor and a testament to the strength and quality of the program in Lansing.

This achievement follows a major milestone reached last year, when the USD 469 PAT program was awarded the Blue Ribbon endorsement from the Parents as Teachers National Center. This designation identifies Lansing’s program as one of the top-performing home visiting affiliates in the nation. To receive this honor, programs must meet at least 75% of rigorous quality standards. Lansing surpassed this benchmark, meeting an impressive 90% of the criteria after a year-long quality endorsement process.

The Parents as Teachers program provides early childhood services including personalized home visits, group connections, developmental screenings, playgroups, and referrals to valuable community resources. The goal is to empower parents with the tools and knowledge they need to give their children a strong start in life and set the foundation for long-term academic and social success.
