Reminder: No Late Start on Thursday, February 27 This is a reminder that tomorrow, Thursday, February 27, will NOT be a late start day. As we have now used all of our allotted snow days for the year, adjustments were made to our schedule to ensure we meet the required instructional hours without adding an extra day to the calendar. Late start Thursdays will now only occur on the following dates for the remainder of the school year: March 6 April 3 May 8 On all other Thursdays, including tomorrow, school will begin at the regular start time. Thank you for your flexibility and understanding as we make these adjustments to support our students' instructional time!

What does Plan D mean? • No students will report to school. • All schools and district buildings will be closed. • Daycare and Y-Care will be closed. • District office staff will work remotely. • Custodial staff, maintenance and grounds staff, and the Superintendent will report to work. Day 5 of National School Counseling week asks mental health professionals and stakeholders to reflect on what kind of school counselor students need.

On the third day of National School Counseling week our school counselors reflected on what they need in order to thrive in their positions. Our school social workers, school psychologists, and school counselors are intrinsically motivated by the growth of our students and sense of community that being a part of the Lansing team and community provides.

Need help buying food for your children when school is out for summer? Learn how the Kansas SUN Bucks program can help you! SUN Bucks, also known as Summer EBT, is a program to help families buy food for their school-aged children during the summer. Families will get a one-time benefit of $120 per year for each eligible child to help buy groceries during the summer months. Children who get SUN Bucks can still participate in other summer meal programs. Receiving SUN Bucks will not affect children or families’ immigration status. If a child’s household did not receive a letter from DCF in January 2025 regarding SUN Bucks eligibility, they can apply through the DCF self-service portal at dcfapp.kees.ks.gov beginning Monday, Jan. 27, 2025. Applications for 2025 SUN Bucks must be submitted no later than 5 p.m. on Aug. 29, 2025. SUN Bucks benefits will be issued beginning in April 2025.

Due to the extremely cold temperatures this morning, several of our school buses are running behind schedule. To ensure your child’s safety and comfort, please wait to send your student out to the bus stop until the bus is visible. As a reminder, parents always have the option to keep their children home during severe weather conditions. If you choose to do so, please report your student’s absence to the school office. Here are a few additional tips to prepare for cold weather: Ensure students are dressed in warm layers, including hats, gloves, and scarves. Be cautious of icy conditions around bus stops and walking routes. Consider carpooling with neighbors or driving your child to school if the weather poses challenges. We appreciate your understanding and patience as we prioritize the safety of our students.

Lansing USD469 would like to remind families that there will be no school on Monday, January 20, 2025, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. dedicated his life to advancing equality, justice, and opportunity for all. This day serves as an opportunity to reflect on his incredible contributions to our society. We encourage families to use this time to explore Dr. King's work and legacy, whether by reading books about his life, participating in acts of service, or attending local events in his honor.
