Lansing USD469 is proud to recognize Tonya Arias, Special Education Teacher and Special Education Team Lead at Lansing Intermediate School, as the October 2026 Certified Staff Member of the Month!

Mrs. Arias was recognized during the October Board of Education meeting for her leadership, dedication to student success, and commitment to supporting students, families, and colleagues.

As Special Education Team Lead and a member of the fifth-grade team, Mrs. Arias works closely with teachers and families to ensure students receive individualized instruction and the support they need to succeed. She takes a thoughtful approach to developing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), collaborating with colleagues, and advocating for students.

Her efforts have helped students make meaningful progress in reading and math while building confidence in their abilities. She is also known for developing strong relationships with families and creating an environment where parents feel heard and supported.

Colleagues describe Mrs. Arias as a positive, dependable team member who consistently puts students first.

Whether she is supporting a colleague, collaborating with a family, or celebrating a student's progress, Mrs. Arias demonstrates the difference that dedicated educators make every day.
