The Lansing High School baseball program has been recognized on the national stage for its outstanding commitment to academic excellence.

The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) recently announced the recipients of the 2025-26 ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award, recognizing high school and college baseball programs that achieved a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or higher during the academic year. Lansing High School earned the honor with an impressive team GPA of 3.655.

Lansing was one of only four Kansas high school baseball programs to receive the award and the only Class 5A program recognized statewide.

Head Coach Michael Basler praised the accomplishments of his student-athletes both in the classroom and on the field.

"Really proud of our guys. They got it done at a high level in the classroom and on the field of competition this past season. The team finished the season with a record number of wins (19), hosted a 5A Regional for the first time in school history, had the UKC Player of the Year, three All-State selections, seven All-UKC selections, and raised our team GPA from a year ago. Truly amazing accomplishments for our program."

The ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award is presented annually to programs whose head coach is an ABCA member and whose team achieves a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Congratulations to Coach Basler and the Lansing High School baseball team on an exceptional year that reflects excellence in academics, athletics, and character. It's a GREAT DAY to be a Lion!
