Lansing USD 469 School Resource Officer Stillman recently observed positive interactions happening in the Lansing High School parking lot and shared his experience with staff. After years in law enforcement, where he often encounters individuals on their worst days, this particular morning offered a memorable contrast.
As he pulled into the parking lot, he noticed a group of students gathered together listening to music, making breakfast, and enjoying each other’s company. What stood out most wasn’t just what they were doing, but how they were doing it. The students were in great spirits, laughing, connecting, and simply being present with one another.
“It was heartfelt and heartwarming to see youth being absolutely awesome and just building memories that I hope last them a lifetime,” Officer Stillman shared.
Moments like these may seem small, but they reflect something much bigger. Every day, our teachers and staff see the positive impact of connection, belonging, and community among students. For Officer Stillman, this experience served as a meaningful reminder of the good happening in our schools. These moments deserve to be recognized and celebrated.
It’s these everyday interactions that help shape a positive school culture and create lasting memories for our students. Thank you to Officer Stillman for calling it out and sharing it with staff!
