Lansing High School Class of 2024 graduate Sophie Webster is being recognized for her academic excellence at the University of Kansas.
Sophie has been selected as a recipient of the prestigious Amsden Award from the Kress Foundation Department of Art History at KU. This honor is awarded to undergraduate students regardless of major who demonstrate outstanding performance in art history courses. Recipients are chosen by faculty members and graduate teaching assistants in recognition of their exceptional work in the classroom.
The Amsden Award, made possible through an endowment established by the late Barbara and Floyd Amsden of Wichita, is presented in the form of an art or art history book. The award highlights not only academic achievement but also a commitment to thoughtful engagement with the subject.
Sophie will be formally recognized at the annual Amsden Awards ceremony on Friday, May 1, in the Kansas Room of the Kansas Union. The event will include a short talk by KU Art History alumna Madeline Rislow, Curator and Senior Manager of Learning & Engagement at the Toy and Miniature Museum, followed by a reception.
