Lansing High School Choir Earns Strong Results at Regional Festival, Advances to State

Lansing High School choir students delivered an impressive performance at the KSHSAA Regional Music Solo & Small Ensemble Festival, earning top ratings and securing multiple qualifications for the state level.

A total of 21 students received “I” (Outstanding) ratings, qualifying them for the KSHSAA State Music & Small Ensemble Festival. In addition, eight singers earned “II” (Excellent) ratings, reflecting a high level of preparation and performance across the program.

Participants prepared and performed two pieces for adjudication and received detailed feedback based on an 80-point rubric.

LHS Choir Director Brian J. White praised the students’ effort and progress throughout the semester.

“These students have worked on their product diligently this semester with commitment and follow-through,” said White. “I am honored to help them realize the potential that they have and bring it to life through music. Their growth has been significant, and we are proud of them. With nearly 75% of our singers qualifying for State, it was a remarkable day.”

The achievement highlights both the dedication of Lansing’s student musicians and the strength of the high school’s choir program. Qualifying such a high percentage of performers for state competition marks a significant milestone for the group.
