The Lansing High School Baseball program continues a meaningful tradition this season through its 1st Pitch Club, an initiative designed to recognize and celebrate individuals who have made a lasting impact on the Lansing community.
The purpose of the 1st Pitch Club is to honor those who help make Lansing a place people are proud to call home. Throughout the season, the high school baseball staff invites military veterans, first responders, USD 469 staff members, and community members with a lasting legacy to throw out a ceremonial first pitch before games.
Each honoree represents service, dedication, and commitment to others.
At a recent game, the program proudly recognized Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Marcus Majure as the evening’s honoree.
Mr. Majure currently serves as a senior-level Army Civilian Professional at Fort Leavenworth, working as the Assistant Chief of Staff, Deputy for Operations and Plans with the U.S. Army Combined Arms Command. His career of service began in 1987 when he entered the Army through ROTC and was commissioned as an Aviation Branch Officer. As a Maintenance Test Pilot, he logged more than 2,000 flight hours flying Cobra and Apache attack helicopters in both training and combat environments.
His military service includes deployments in Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm, Operation Desert Thunder, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation New Dawn. Over 28 years of active duty, he held numerous command and key leadership roles, serving both in the United States and overseas in Iraq, Kuwait, and Korea.
Beyond his military career, Mr. Majure has made a significant impact right here in Lansing.
A dedicated supporter of Lansing High School baseball, he served as a “Team Dad,” organizing fundraising efforts and helping grow the Lansing Reds Baseball Program. His commitment to the program is evident through his generous contributions, including funding a new digital scoreboard and helping improve the playing surface at the former high school field, enhancements that elevated it into one of the top fields in the area.
His service to the community extends into local leadership as well. Mr. Majure served on the Lansing City Council from 2020 to 2024 and currently serves as a Leavenworth County Commissioner for Planning and Zoning.
He and his wife, Lisa, recently celebrated 38 years of marriage. Together, they raised two sons, both Lansing High School graduates who played baseball and went on to play at the collegiate level. Today, both serve as dentists. The Majures also enjoy spending time outdoors with their three grandsons.
The Lansing High School Baseball program is proud to recognize individuals like Marcus Majure, leaders whose service, generosity, and commitment continue to shape the strength of the Lansing community.
