Students and staff across our school recently celebrated Read Across America Week, a nationwide event that highlights the importance of reading and encourages a lifelong love of books. Throughout the week, students participated in themed spirit days, welcomed guest readers, and enjoyed special moments centered around stories and literacy.
The week kicked off with Mash-Up Monday, where students showed their creativity by wearing mustaches, crazy hair, and as many colors as possible. On Royal Reading Tuesday, hallways were filled with crowns, tiaras, and royal attire as students celebrated reading like kings and queens.
Wednesday’s theme, “Reading Is All Around You,” brought plenty of personality with students wearing readable shirts and crazy socks. On Cozy Up to a Good Book Thursday, classrooms felt extra comfortable as students arrived in pajamas or comfy clothes, ready to curl up with a great story.
The celebration wrapped up on Friday with “Reading Gives You a Bright Future.” Students wore sunglasses, college apparel, or dressed as the careers they hope to pursue one day, highlighting how reading helps open doors to endless possibilities.
A special thank you goes out to the many guest readers who visited classrooms throughout the week to share stories with our students. Your time and enthusiasm helped make the experience even more meaningful and showed students that reading is valued throughout our community.
Events like Read Across America Week remind us that reading is not only an essential skill but also a powerful way to spark imagination, curiosity, and learning.
We invite you to enjoy highlights from the week in the video below.
