The Library recently sponsored a “Caught You Reading” event, and it was such a fun way to celebrate our students and their love of reading! Teachers were invited to nominate students they spotted reading independently. Those students then brought their nomination slip to the library to be entered into a prize drawing.
Our goal is simple: get more books into the hands of our students and continue supporting our district’s literacy initiatives. When students read for pleasure, it strengthens vocabulary, comprehension, focus, and imagination; all skills that help them succeed in every subject area.
We are incredibly thankful for the support of some of our wonderful local businesses Dairy Queen, Sonic, and Freddy’s who generously helped provide prizes for our winners. Their partnership helps us celebrate positive student habits and build excitement around reading.
Thank you to our teachers for taking the time to recognize students, to our community partners for their generosity, and most importantly, to our students for choosing to read!
