Lansing USD 469 is proud to share that the YMCA of Greater Kansas City, which partners with our district to provide Y-Care programming, has earned Praesidium Accreditation®, the highest honor awarded for excellence in abuse prevention practices.
The safety and well-being of students and families is always a top priority in Lansing schools. This accreditation recognizes organizations that meet the most rigorous industry standards for preventing abuse and protecting youth.
To earn this distinction, the YMCA completed an in-depth, multi-year process that began in 2023. The effort strengthened practices across eight key areas, including:
Staff and volunteer screening
Comprehensive training
Active supervision protocols
Clear policies and procedures
Reporting and response systems
Ongoing accountability measures
Praesidium, a national leader in abuse prevention, independently verified that these standards are actively implemented throughout the YMCA’s association.
For Lansing families, this means:
Strong, consistent safety policies across all YMCA programs and locations
Thorough screening of staff and volunteers
Ongoing staff training and supervision
Clear procedures for prevention, reporting, and response
A culture centered on transparency, accountability, and care
The YMCA will hold this accreditation for the next three years and remains committed to continuous improvement and strengthening safeguards that protect the children and families we serve together.
We are grateful for our partnership with the YMCA of Greater Kansas City and appreciate their dedication to providing safe, high-quality programming for Lansing students.
