Lansing High School’s Men’s Concert Choir has earned one of the highest honors in Kansas music education- selection to perform at the 2026 Kansas Music Educators Association (KMEA) All-State Convention.
The ensemble will take the stage in Wichita on February 27, 2026, representing Lansing High School among the top music programs in the state.
The selection process is highly competitive. Ensembles are chosen through a blind audition process and compete across multiple school classifications, making the distinction especially meaningful.
“It is with great pride that I announce our LHS Men’s Concert Choir has been selected to perform at the Kansas Music Educators Association (KMEA) All-State Convention in February 2026,” said Brian J. White, Director of Lansing High School Choirs.
This recognition marks the third consecutive KMEA convention selection for the Lansing High School choir program, and the fourth time in the last five years that a Lansing ensemble has been invited to perform. Notably, each of the past three selections has featured a different choir from the program, demonstrating consistent excellence across the department.
“A different choir from our program has been selected during this historic ‘three-peat,’ showcasing the standard of excellence across the entire program,” White said.
Performing at the KMEA Convention is widely regarded as one of the most prestigious achievements for a high school music ensemble in Kansas.
“This momentous accolade can be likened to ‘winning the Super Bowl’ for Fine Arts within education, viewed as a level above a state championship as the audition is across multiple school class-sizes,” White explained.
White also emphasized the broader significance of the honor for Lansing’s music program.
“I am thrilled that our classroom has been selected as a standard-bearer for music education through the blind audition process and will be showcased to Kansas music educators yet again this year,” he said.
Community Invited to KMEA Preview Concert
Before traveling to Wichita, the Lansing High School Men’s Concert Choir will present a free KMEA Preview Concert for the community.
