Lansing High School’s Forensics team continues to shine this season, delivering another impressive performance over the weekend, highlighted by a major national qualification milestone.
Mia Jaskowiec Earns Second NIETOC Bid
Mia Jaskowiec has become the first student on the team to earn a second bid to the National Individual Event Tournament of Champions (NIETOC). Mia claimed the title of Tournament Champion in Original Oration, securing her qualification to the prestigious national competition, which will be held in Minnesota this May.
Earning even one NIETOC bid is a significant accomplishment. Securing two in a single season reflects consistent excellence at the highest level of competition. Mia’s achievement places her among the top individual event competitors in the country.
More Success Across the Team
The success didn’t stop there. Several Lansing students delivered standout performances:
Eliana Silva – Tournament Champion, Humorous Interpretation (earning her first NIETOC bid)
Bayne Yoakam – 3rd Place, Impromptu (State Qualifier)
Bayne Yoakam – 3rd Place, Foreign Extemporaneous Speaking
More Opportunities Ahead
With a few tournaments still remaining this season, Lansing Forensics has additional opportunities to qualify even more students for national competition. The team’s momentum continues to build as they prepare for the final stretch of the season.
Congratulations to Coach Kevin Krouse and all of our student competitors for another exceptional weekend representing Lansing with pride and excellence.
