Aaron YOakam Board Appreciation Month Graphic

January is Board Appreciation Month, a time to recognize and thank the dedicated individuals who serve our students, staff, and community through their leadership on the Lansing USD 469 Board of Education. Today, we are pleased to recognize Mr. Aaron Yoakam, who was elected to the Board of Education in 2019 and has previously served as President of the Board.

About Aaron Yoakam
Mr. Yoakam grew up in Lansing and attended Lansing USD 469 from kindergarten through twelfth grade. After graduating from Pittsburg State University, he returned to the Lansing area, continuing his lifelong connection to the community and school district.

Professional & Community Service
Aaron currently serves as the Director of Building and Grounds for Leavenworth County. His background in facilities and operations brings a valuable perspective to the Board of Education, particularly in supporting safe, well-maintained learning environments for students and staff.

Board Service & Leadership
Elected to the Board of Education in 2019, Mr. Yoakam has served for six years, including time as Board President. Reflecting on his service, he has shared that while his tenure has been six years, it has felt more like ten due to the challenges and leadership demands of navigating the district through the pandemic.

Mr. Yoakam is married to Felicia Yoakam, a former teacher in the Lansing School District. Together, they have two sons and a daughter, continuing their family’s strong connection to Lansing schools.

Thank You
We are grateful for Aaron Yoakam’s leadership, dedication, and long-standing commitment to Lansing USD 469. Please join us in thanking him, and the entire Board of Education, for their service to our students, staff, and community.
