Board Appreciation Month Feature: Pete Im

January is Board Appreciation Month, a time to recognize and thank the dedicated individuals who serve our students, staff, and community through their leadership on the Lansing USD 469 Board of Education. We are pleased to highlight Mr. Pete Im, who was elected in November 2023 to a four-year term on the Lansing USD 469 Board of Education.

About Pete Im
Mr. Im and his wife, Jeanne, were first assigned to Fort Leavenworth in 2003 and made Lansing their home. After completing their tour, they returned to Lansing in 2013 with their two sons and have been a Lansing Schools family ever since.

Professional & Community Service
Mr. Im grew up in Traverse City, Michigan, and earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan. During his military career, he earned Master’s degrees from the National Intelligence University, the Army Command and General Staff College (School of Advanced Military Studies), and the Army War College. He retired from active duty in 2016 and has since served as an Army Civilian Professional. He is currently an Assistant Professor at the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College.

Why He Serves
Mr. Im’s interest in serving on the Lansing School Board stems from his belief that the quality of a community can be measured by how it values and supports education and educators. He is committed to using his leadership experience and professional background to serve the Lansing community.
