Board of Education Members

The Lansing USD 469 Board of Education welcomed two new members and one returning member during the January 12 Board of Education meeting, where all three were officially sworn in.

Jackie Kennedy brings a strong commitment to public education, thoughtful leadership, and community service. A longtime Lansing resident, Kennedy has a deep appreciation for the role schools play in strengthening communities and supporting students and families. Her background in education, communication, and service has shaped her belief in collaborative decision-making and responsible stewardship, with students always at the center. As both a parent of Lansing graduates and a community volunteer, she is dedicated to ensuring safe, supportive learning environments where all students have the opportunity to thrive.

Greg Penfield also begins his first term on the Board of Education after being elected in November. A strong advocate for public education, Penfield moved to Lansing with his family in 2018 following a 30-year active-duty career in the U.S. Army. He brings extensive leadership experience and a lifelong commitment to learning, along with a deep connection to Lansing schools as the parent of a Lansing High School graduate. Penfield is actively involved in the community and is well known as the “Voice of the Lions” for LHS athletics.

The Board also celebrated the re-election of Jeff Bollin, who was sworn in for his second term at the January meeting. Bollin has been an active and dedicated board member, previously serving as Vice President and President during his first term. A Leavenworth County native and Lansing parent, Bollin brings valuable experience from his career in construction and long-standing involvement in volunteer service.

The Lansing Board of Education also includes Kerry Brungardt, Pete Im, Kirsten Workman, and Aaron Yoakam. The district thanks all board members for their service and leadership, and looks forward to sharing additional Board Appreciation Month recognitions throughout January.
