January is recognized as Board of Education Appreciation Month, a time to thank the dedicated individuals who volunteer their time to serve our school district and community. Members of the Board of Education play a critical role in setting the vision, policies, and priorities that guide our schools and support student success.
To help celebrate the month, the district created a fun video that was shown at the beginning of the January Board of Education meeting. The video features students sharing their thoughts and best guesses about what the Board of Education does, followed by messages of gratitude from both students and staff. Scroll down to watch the video on the district YouTube channel.
Students across the district also took part in recognizing board members in creative ways. Middle school students in Ms. Bucher’s art class created portraits of each Board of Education member, highlighting their talents while showing appreciation through art. In addition, a student at the high school created drawings that will be presented to each board member as a personal thank-you for their service.
January also marks the swearing-in of new and returning board members. We are pleased to welcome Jackie Kennedy and Greg Penfield, who officially joined the Board of Education at the January meeting. In addition, Jeff Bollin was sworn in after being reelected to continue his service on the board.
Throughout the month, the district will also be sharing more about each Board of Education member on the district website. Board member bios and headshots will be featured to help our community get to know the individuals who serve our schools and represent our district.
We are grateful for the leadership and countless hours our Board of Education members give in support of our students, staff, and community. Please join us in thanking all of our board members during Board of Education Appreciation Month and welcoming our newest members as they begin their terms of service!
